Obituary & Life History
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at a 11:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Andrus Joseph Broussard, 77, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at his residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery in Maurice.
Reverend Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, LA will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Christine Gary and Martine Beard. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Be Not Afraid", "Here I Am Lord" and "Ave Maria" for the services.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lily Duhon Broussard; one brother, Adlas Broussard and his wife Annie; and one sister, Patricia Melancon and her husband Terrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Broussard and Beulah Trahan Broussard; and one sister, Audrey Mae Broussard.
Andrus was born and raised in Lafayette. He attended school at the Louisiana State School for the Deaf where he starred as the quarterback on the school football team. He spent most of his working career as a painter at the Louisiana State School for the Deaf in Baton Rouge and was a retired Louisiana State Employee. Andrus was an avid sports fan and loved watching football and basketball. Andrus Broussard will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jude Sellers, C.J. Sellers, Paul Sellers, Adam Sellers, Paul Gary and Johnny Beard.
Visitation was observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Friday, September 17, 2010 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue today, Saturday, from 9:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary was prayed Friday, September 17, 2010 at 7:00 in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
