Obituary & Life History
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Monique Ann Mouton, 45, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Crowley, will con-celebrate. Lectors will be Cora Mouton and Cindy Mouton. Giftbearers will be Hannah Savoie and Jessie Mouton. Karen Broussard, vocalist, accompanied on the organ by Lisa Roy Sheppert, will sing for the services, "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Ave Maria" and "The Lord's Prayer".

Survivors include her parents, John Ray and Myra Dumesnil Mouton of Scott; two sisters, Leah Savoie and her husband, Carl and Myra Louise Mouton; two brothers, Johnny Mouton and his wife, Cora and Martin Mouton and his wife, Cindy; her nieces and nephews, Jason Mouton, and his wife, Jamie, Jeremy Mouton, Ray Savoie, Jessie Mouton, Garrett Mouton and her Godchild Hannah Savoie; one great niece, Jaden Mouton; and her canine and feline buddies, Noel, Jingle Bell, Beau, Chance, Libby, Stella and Lucky, who will miss her dearly.

A native of Lafayette, Louisiana and resident of Scott for most of her life, Monique was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She graduated from the Louisiana School for the Deaf in 1984 and went to Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., where she earned her Bachelor's degree in physical education, the University of Western Maryland, where she earned her Master's Degree in deaf education and St. Thomas University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL earning a Master's degree in Pastoral Ministry for the Deaf. Monique worked for the Diocese of Lafayette at the Catholic Deaf Center for most of her life, taught sign language and was the Cajun Camp Director. She was passionate about running and loved to exercise at Red's, was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, loved to travel and especially enjoyed her coffee from CC's Coffee House. Monique attend Mass regularly at the Catholic Deaf Center in Lafayette. She enjoyed spending time with her animals, family, and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Mouton, Martin Mouton, Carl Savoie, Ray Savoie, Jason Mouton and Garret Mouton. Honorary Pallbearer will be, Jeremy Mouton.

A Rosary will be recited by Reverend Gary Schexnayder on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille's SCOTT Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
