Robert Jack Sheffield, Sr.

Robert Sheffield Sr. Robert Jack Sheffield, Sr. CHARLESTON - Entered into eternal rest on the evening of May 29, 2009, Robert Jack Sheffield, Sr., husband of Mary "Maxine" Chatelain Sheffield. Residence, Charleston, SC, formerly of West Monroe, LA. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Monday from six until eight o'clock where the vigil wake service will be held at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial and Prayers of Final Commendation will be held in Alexandria, LA. Bob was born October 21, 1935 in West Monroe, LA, the son of William Jackson Sheffield and Inez Foley Sheffield. He was a 1956 graduate and Salutatorian of the Louisiana School for the Deaf. He was a former printer for the State Times and Morning Advocate in Baton Rouge, LA until 1987. He retired as a teacher in 1997 at the Louisiana School for the Deaf. After moving to Charleston, SC, he worked as a teacher for the hearing impaired at Laing Middle School. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Charleston, SC. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maxine, of Charleston, SC; one son, Jack Sheffield, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Charleston, SC; one daughter, Jill Sheffield and her partner Sylvia Primeaux of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Phylis Richardson and her husband Oscar of Louisville, KY, Billie Richardson and her husband Paul of Louisville, KY and Deloris Banister and her husband Harvey of La Grange, KY.
