Services for Marvin Scott Perkins will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 in the chapel of John Kramer & Son with Rev. Lee Weems, Rev. Webb Robinson and Rev. Alton Achord officiating. Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Alexandria.

Marvin Scott Perkins, 81, of Alexandria, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in Naomi Heights Nursing Center.

Mr. Perkins was a graduate of the Louisiana State School for the Deaf. After graduation he served as the boy's counselor at the Iowa State School for the Deaf; was later employed at the Texas School for the Deaf. He was past President of the Louisiana Deaf Association. Mr. Perkins continued his career working for the Oakdale and Bunkie newspapers before being employed by the Town Talk for 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Ida Perkins; his wife, Develia A. Perkins and two brothers, James Carlton Perkins and Rufus J. Perkins.

Marvin Perkins is survived by: his siblings, Carmen Carroll of Alexandria; Quinton Perkins of Gardner; James Morse and wife, Carolyn of Gardner; numerous nieces and nephews

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at John Kramer & Son.

Pallbearers will be: Quinton Perkins, Jr., Denton Perkins, John Perkins, Marvin Earl Carroll, Trey Perkins, Gary Perkins and John Cain.
