Too few people with disabilities are employed in Louisiana although the majority of people with disabilities can work full or part time. Employment offers people with disabilities the same thing it offers anyone else: the opportunity to earn money, the opportunity to become self sufficient, the opportunity to interact with others and develop friendships, the opportunity to feel valued and useful.
Advisory councils like the LRC need to hear from the people they represent. Come to the meeting which is open to the public. Give public comment. Hear a consumer tell his/her story, hear the Director of the La Rehabilitative Services. Here is the agenda:
